5 of the prettiest places to visit in the UK this spring
We are blessed in the UK with some of the prettiest villages, ancient woodlands, magnificent estates and gardens, and vibrant colour that can be found anywhere in the world.
So make memories this spring and visit some of the prettiest places you could ever imagine.
Here are just 5 out of the many hundreds throughout the UK for you to consider.
Bodnant Garden, North Wales

Cared for by the National Trust since 1949, Bodnant is home to many beautiful and incredible floral displays, including the earliest laburnum arch built in 1880, magnolias introduced from China in the 1800s and rhododendron hybrids created in the 1920s.
Established in 1874 by scientist, businessman and politician Henry Pochin, the garden has been filled with plants collected by famous global explorers such as Ernest Wilson, George Forrest and Harold Comber.
At Bodnant Garden the season opens with swathes of golden daffodils which fill the Old Park meadow from March. As daffodils give way to carpets of bluebells, enjoy the spectacle of acres of cherry blossom and the scent of viburnums around the garden; as well as herbaceous beds bursting with bulbs and flowering perennials.

Blickling Estate, Norfolk

Nothing indicates the start of spring like daffodils and bluebells.
Incredibly, almost half of the bluebells in the world can be accounted for in the UK, where great swathes of this pretty little flower can be found in the ancient wood at Blickling Estate, Norfolk.
Blickling house and its woodland can be traced back to at least 1450, however the magnificent house and estate that we can view today was first developed in 1616 by Sir Henry Hobart who carried out extensive modelling work of the house and its magnificent gardens.
Today the Blickling Estate is cared for by the National Trust and provides a dog friendly day out that everyone will enjoy. This imposing Jacobean manor house boasts a walled garden, secret tunnels, orangery, 55 acres of manicured gardens and 500 acres of ancient woodland.
It is a wonderful day out at any time of the year, but springtime is special.

Hackfall-Grewelthorpe

If you love purples and blues, you need to head to this ancient woodland on the outskirts of the North Yorkshire Dales. Surrounded by the beauty of Nidderdale (designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty AONB), with the Roman city of York to the south east, the beautiful spa town of Harrogate to the south, and the ancient market town of Richmond to the north, there is plenty in the area for everyone to enjoy.
This ancient woodland of Hackfall has been restored to its former glory and boasts original features such as grottos and glades, rustic temples and waterfalls, as well as carpets of bluebell in the spring and an impressive number of woodland birds.
In 2011, Hackfall was awarded a highly coveted 2011 European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage at the Europa Nostra Awards. It won in the conservation category for the restoration of the 18th century planned landscape.

Bourton-on-the-Water, Cotswolds AONB

With its honey-coloured stone villages, the Cotswolds is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) with Bourton-on-the-Water one of the prettiest and most tranquil villages you will discover. More so in the springtime as a riotous mix of colour adds to the backdrop of golden stone and greenery. Daffodils, snowdrops and primroses are in abundance in the hedgerows as new born lambs can be seen playing in the fields.
With over 100 miles of footpaths along gently flowing rivers meandering through pretty villages and across open countryside, the Cotswolds is an area you will want to visit every springtime.
Hawes, Yorkshire Dales National Park

Not too far away from Hackfall and Nidderdale is the beautiful village of Hawes in the North Yorkshire Dales National Park. Complete with waterfall, stone bridge and pretty cottages along the village streets, Hawes is a beautiful place to stop, rest and take in the vibrant colour and charm of this ancient village.
Once rested and feeling energetic again, enjoy the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail which takes you past tumbling falls and through the ancient oak woodland. The vibrancy of springtime colour will leave you in awe of nature and wanting to return next year.
